On our first day back after Katrina, my daughter Susan Toney took many rolls of photographs. Throughout the recovery process, my friend Austin Lindsey served as photo journalist. Most of these photos are theirs. Others who came to help sent photographs. I wish I could have included all in Katrina’s Grace, but I could not. The first ones in this gallery are from the book, this time in full color. Others will be added as time goes on.
These will give you images of what it was like to be in the devastation washed in the outpouring of Grace. Katrina’s Grace: Wind, Water and Wisdom tells the stories of these images.
