Thursday night, March 26, 2015, Katrina’s Grace: Wind, Water and Wisdom went to press.
First, my dear friends Donna and Ben Toole and I celebrated a deeply meaningful ritual of release. We crumpled all the pages of the book with covers together so that it was a cylinder, put it in their fireplace on a piece of tin and offered it up to the Universe for its life to begin. The burning was a moving experience of dancing flames, a long slow burn with sparkles dancing over the edges of the pages, and embers glowing long after the first flames were no longer visible. As I said in my book about another fire, “A Spirit hovered there invisible to the eye but exquisitely visible to the heart.”
After the whole book was released, I went to my publisher’s website and hit the Approved button for publication.
The ashes will be scattered, a few on my parents’ graves, a few on the line between Joan and Steven’s lot and mine, a few in the outdoor worship area at Trinity, and the rest in the Gulf to join the waters of the world. I need to give Katrina’s Grace back to God through earth, wind, fire, and water.
Thank you to all of you for your support in birthing this book. The butterfly has emerged from the cocoon. With open hand I release it to fly.
